What is GIS Capability Maturity Modeling?
The goal of conducting a GIS Capability Assessment and Prioritization Assessment is to evaluate the prioritized capabilities and opportunities and provide a clear picture of where gaps occur (in the subjects of Organizational, Technical and Data issues). When a GIS Capability Assessment and Prioritization Assessment has been completed, the prioritized issues can be improved in an on- going basis by institutionalizing the process improvement of these, and the many initiatives captured in a strategic planning project.
How we can help:
Metrics are collected and analyzed to provide a measurement of maturity, as well as a clear picture of the gaps where GIS technology can be improved in all aspects of execution, enabling and management within the organization This information can serve as a benchmark that may be used for future self-assessment - offering the ability for quantitative measurement of GIS progress and change within the organization. Ideally, your organization will find these gaps (issues) to be optimized, managed processes in the short and long-term.
